#LOADER TRACTOR SERIES#
He could even get a 51 series maxuum with left hand reverser and foot throttle for that kind of money. Posted 19:42 (#4215788 - in reply to #4215745) Subject: RE: Forget age, what is the budget? They are very hard to beat with their responsive closed center hydraulics and strong steering. JD tractors seem to have much stronger steering pumps and I would support the thought of a 4020-4240 or 4430 or 50etc. If you put a big load on front you cannot steer unless moving. I have a IH 666 and it works fairly well except for the weak power steering. Several posters have mentioned IH Hydro tractors. Other things are how big of a tractor does it need to be for field work and do you need mfwd? If you've got a good Agco dealer close that would probably be the way to get the most bang for your $. The same money will buy a lot newer/nicer outfit in an off color. You could spend $25k- $30k by the time you get a good loader on some of the JD's that guys are suggesting. I love my 4250 MFWD with 280 loader and powershift : ) It took away the fear of winter Blizzards in South Central Montana for us. I use a 4430 powershift but any 4440 or 4450 would work fine. I think the older JD's tough to start in the cold. Inexpensive, good starter, good on fuel, Good in the cold. One of these will serve you well on the loader or I think he had to have the hydro rebuilt once. Neighbor had an IH 966 hydro that was a great loader tractor. I'd like the ability to lift seed pallets and mini bulks, which I cannot do now (due to front axle/rear weight ) Color doesnt matter - I have or have been around all the colors except jd green which I'm not opposed to. My 7000 has to run for a few minutes to get the hydraulics going good when its cold. Is there a particular tractor loader combo out there in this age range thats really handy? Needs to be a good cold starter. I'd also like for it to cross over as a second row crop tractor, so it may see some planting or light field work. Right now I bale smaller rounds (700-800# ) so I can scoop them up with the bucket and dump them when feeding, when I'm in the field or loading/unloading I switch out to the bale spear. Gets light on the back end real quick, already have fluid in rears, and I'm sure I'm overloading the front axle by the time I get light - which doesnt take much. Loader is mainly used for moving snow (need cab ) and yard work - however I do feed some cattle and so I move some round bales. (to get around tractor nose ) The loader is to big for the tractor, but I had the tractor, and at the time it was a big step up. Right now I run a 7000 Allis with the big Westendorf loader. Looking at getting a different loader tractor. ( logon | register )īest loader tractor late 70's-early80's Jump to page : 1 Now viewing page 1
